GENERAL GUIDELINES AND REQUEST FORM

GENERAL GUIDELINES

The NIH/OD funded Resource for Nonhuman Primate Immune Reagents provides 10-20 ug of recombinant protein and/or 10 ug of recombinant DNA constructs to requestors free of charges other than shipping costs.

Larger orders of recombinant proteins will require a participation in the cost of reagents needed for production/purification.

Nonhuman primate reagents are provided for research purposes only. Their use for commercial purposes is prohibited unless additional agreements are negotiated with the University of Louisiana at Lafayette Office of Technology Transfer.

Requests are made using the Request Form to be downloaded from this site.

This Request Form may be emailed or mailed to the Facility address given below.

Emailed Request Forms shall constitute agreement of the Requestor and, if appropriate, the Requestor’s Institution, to the terms for receiving the reagent(s) as provided on the Request Form in lieu of a Material Transfer Agreement.

The Resource Internal Committee meets every 2 weeks to review, approve and prioritize the requests. Requestors will be notified by email of approval or disapproval of their requests as well as an estimation of time needed to fulfill the request, within approximately 2 weeks of receipt of requests.

Each batch of recombinant nonhuman primate cytokines provided will be tested for biological activity, sterility and absence of toxin using the LAL test.

Request of new reagents not listed on this site and custom preparation of DNA constructs for expression of cytokine reagents will be evaluated by the Resource Committee and honored pending adequate justification and feasibility.

Quality control of reagents produced and provided by this facility includes the following:

  • Recombinant proteins:

Quantification of cytokine via standardized EIA, quantification of biological activity using appropriate bioassays (if available) and verification of absence of endotoxin using the LAL assay.

  • Expression constructs and cDNA clones

Complete sequence analysis of inserted fragments and procurement of the map of the provided constructs

The Address of the Facility is as follows:

Cost for shipping will be assumed by the requestor by providing a FEDEX or another carrier shipper account number (or by making arrangements for prepaid shipments).

DNA plasmids will be shipped at ambient temperature unless specifically requested otherwise, lyophilized proteins at 4oC and soluble recombinant proteins on dry ice (provided by the facility).

All publications of studies using these reagents are required to acknowledge the source of the reagents as the NIH/OD/ORIP funded Resource for Nonhuman Primate Immune Reagents. Copies of publications using reagents from the Nonhuman Primate Immune Reagents should be forwarded to the Resource for Nonhuman Primate Immune Reagents, New Iberia Research Center, University of Louisiana at Lafayette, 4401 W Admiral Doyle Drive, New Iberia, LA 70560

.

Reagents are shipped with forms containing technical information and specifications for each reagent provided and use restriction and a survey form.

Survey forms are necessary to provide the facility with a feedback on the quality and use of the reagents produced, as well as technical problems and discoveries encountered by users. Therefore, each recipient of reagents must complete the survey form and return it to the facility.

Direct technical inquiries or information about approved requests to Dr. Syed Ali at 337 482 0315 (syed.ali@louisiana.edu) or Dr. Francois Villinger at 337 482 0225 (C00257364@louisiana.edu).
